Singer/Songwriter/Lyricist Nicky Guiland, a graduate of LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts and The New School University’s prestigious Jazz Program, was introduced to music at 12, after years of concentrating on dance training. Following her graduation form The New School, Nicky teamed up with the Grammy Award winning artist, Casey Benjamin to form HEAVy, a Soul/Jazz fusion band. Her music has been featured on a number of compilations and in the movie “Three Can Play that Game”. Nicky has toured extensively, supporting acts N.E.R.D., Jill Scott and Q-Tip. As a solo artist, she is a frequent featured vocalist with Jazz drummer Joe Chambers and his quartet, with whom her vocals can be heard on “The Outlaw”, “Horace to Max”, and 2012’s live recording at Lincoln Center “Moving Pictures Orchestra”. Nicky is currently working with Casey Benjamin on his upcoming album with Blue Note Records.
