Class Descriptions

Dancing Babies (8 wks-crawling with a grown up)

This class embraces the joy of dance through the exploration of concept-based creative movement. Based on the "braindance" work of Anne Green Gilbert and the teachings of Dionne Kamara, adults will delight in dancing your child through space. The kinesthetic vocabulary encourages age appropriate neurological, emotional, and physical development using movement, rhythm, and instruments. It's a wonderful bonding experience for all.

Dancing Toddlers (Walking-3 yrs with a grown up)

Building and layering on the dancing babies platform, we continue to explore concepts of movement using voice, instruments, scarves, ribbons and our bodies. 

A little art smart! (2-6)

This class is a creative and fun way to get kids and caregivers alike thinking about making and enjoying works of art. Each week an artist and a work of art will be explored. Inspired by what they have seen, your young artist will create a unique artwork of their own. In late fall, the group will have a class field trip to a city museum where they will see many of the artworks highlighted in class. *Please note that the day of our museum visit we will have an extended class and caregivers will be responsible for their families museum admission.

Shapes in Space (2-6)

This class will be a hands on way for children to learn to identify shapes in art, in the studio, in nature, and in movement. Children and caregivers will focus on different shapes each week as they create colorful works of art.

Tumbling I (Ages 3-6)

We explore basic motor skills including:  balancing, stretching, rolling, and jumping with alot of fun and warmpth.

Creative Ballet (Ages 3-6)

For those of us who only want to float, twirl, and flutter. We will dance like prince and princesses enjoying classical ballet techniques and concept.

Ballet / Tap (Ages 3-6)

In this creative combo the dancers will build a dance vocabulary using songs, stories, and rhythms. Traditional ballet vocabulary is explored with both classical music as well as a modernized perspective creating a fresh and engaging learning environment for both girls and boys. The dancers will also learn the fundamentals of tap.

Ballet/Tap (6 & up)

A more formal introduction to ballet. We expand on our vocabulary and challenge our dancers to articulate more with their bodies and expand their dance technique. Tap technique is also challenged with faster more intricate steps.

Jazz /Tap (Ages 3-6)

Fast footwork, patterns, leaps, and turns are what you'll find in this combo class. And that's just the jazz portion. Children learn to articulate and isolate body parts from head to feet. A perfect class for focusing energy!

Jazz/Tap (6 & up)

Classic jazz styles fused with fun. We learn a basic warm up, center work, across the floor ( foot/leg work, turns, & jumps) and expand our dance phrases.

Boys Blast (3-6)

This is an all about boys celebration!  Combining all dance genres, we use their natural athleticism and energy to explore and create.

Hip Hop (Ages 6 & up)

The name says it all! A cool combo of street technique and freestyle.

Acro hip hop (4 & up)

All the hip hop moves you can imagine, plus great acrobatic skills. Perfect for those extra energized kids, this class combines focus and physicality.

Broadway / Pop (Ages 7-12)

Sassy and spirited this class allows those up and coming divas do their thing.

Modern/ Contemporary (6 & up)

The beauty of self expression combined with the discipline of modern dance. Class includes floorwork, multiple rhythms, alignment, stretching, and strength.We also delve into choreographic skills and developing stage presence.

Get up and sing (4 & up)

Unleash you child's inner vocal star. Each class the children will learn basic vocal techniques while singing the best songs both old and new. C'mon now-Get up and sing!

Musical theater & stagecraft (4-10)

An introduction into the world of theater. Beginning drama class is all about harnessing the wild imagination and free play of youth into performance and storytelling. We focus on being aware of our physical selves in space, the concept of story with beginning, middle, and end, and how to work with our fellow performers in a trusting and nuturing environment. Plus it's always fun to show off!

Salsa (5 & up)

Footwork, intro to partnering skills, performance technique, stylized movement, rhythm work and great music.

Musical theater & stagecraft (8 & up)

Dance Sampler (4 & up)

Try it ALL out in this action packed class. We dance through tumbling ( 4 weeks), tap (5 weeks), and hip hop/pop (4 weeks). A great way to try everything.

 

 

Circus Combo/Arts

Toss things up, throw yourself around, turn inside out and upside down! Make your friends and family go "Oooh" & "Aahh!"

Starting Circus (5-7 years)

It's never too early to begin! Basic circus skills in balance, acrobatics and juggling. Simple coordination and motor skills are introduced, as well as working with one another. The use of body and props introduces a sense of focus and timing and encourages children to be inventive with their new "tools" of expression.

Starting Circus (8-12 years)

Training in tumbling, juggling, balancing, specialty acrobatics, and more! An introduction to partner and pyramid work, where children become human Leggo's - creating amazing shapes and forms by building on and with each other. Kids learn, not only circus skills, but are encouraged to create their own acts!

Starting Circus (13 and above)

An introduction and continuation of the skills above, geared to the physical and mental maturity of youth, emphasising elements of trust, timing, and cooperation. A focus on physical awareness, strength, core training, and mobility, as well as attention to the creativity process. Touches on a brief history of circus - great acts and artists in time, through film, books, and art, and highlights modern shows and performers.

CIRCUS WORKSHOP

An open session for all levels to continue practicing their skills or work with circus apparatus. Spotting and guidance available. (Not a formal class)

HOOPLAH!

A Family Fun Night, designed to let friends and relatives see what students are learning and to allow them to participate, themselves! Kids in the programs become the teachers: showing and guiding their families in working with props and apparatus. A great venue for children to share their new-found confidence and skills, and to offer outsiders a "hands-on" view!

Mighty Mamas (with children)

For those mamas looking for a healthy workout and built in baby/toddler playdate this is the class for you! Reshape and retrain your body with this 1-hour workout while your little one watches & socializes. Designed specifically to target the postnatal body, this class incorporates deep pelvic floor exercises, core stability and strength. From c-section, diastases, and sciatic issues, and lower back pain, we address it all. This is an open, drop in class for all levels.

Ballet Body (starting in April - adults only)

Haven't taken a class in some time or reminiscing over your own childhood enjoyment of dance? This is the into back into it with a great physic tightening twist. Enjoy the beauty of ballet while you strengthen your center, improve your balance, posture, and grace. This class is open to All levels.

Stott Pilates Mat

The Old Diva (ADULT)

For all the former child ballerinas or those who wished they had- here's you opportunity. Drawing on the physicality and demands of classic ballet technique, this class will sculpt all the right places while enriching your artistry.

House Party (ADULT)

If you just LOVE to dance and are looking for a Great time this is the class for you. Get a group of friends together and party!  This dynamic class incorporates movement language from modern, ballet, urban cultural and west African dance. Suitable for the former dancer wanting to get back at it, as well as the in shape newbie looking for a challenge, this fun and challenging fusion class will allow you to explore your creativity and rediscover the joy of movement. Your body, mind and spirit will soar!

ZUMBA™ (ADULT)

Ditch the Workout and Join the Party! Let’s dance and burn off some calories to the  international beats of Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Bachata, Bellydance, and the list goes on! No dance experience is needed! It’s more like a PARTY!

 

Open Play

Each open play session lasts 2 hours. We provide a safe and fun environment for you to bring your child and socialize with other families in the neighborhood.
