The Williamsburg Movement & Arts Center is dedicated to introducing the love of dance and it's counterparts to our community. From infants to adults, we wish to involve everyone's interest in exploring movement and all the benefits encompassed by that pursuit.
Our infant/toddler program is based on the 8-principle movement pattern philosophy, "braindance" by Anne Green Gilbert, an expert and master teacher of creative dance. These patterns help organize the wiring of our central nervous system, increase oxygen flow, stimulate the brain-body locomotion development, and enhance body strength. With age appropriate activity in the forefront (as well as loads of fun), our program is geared to stimulate and enrich all with the joy of movement. We want everyone to crawl, roll, leap, balance, and spin as much as they can!
Our young child, teen, and adult classes are a continuation of the movement patterns, layered with the vocabulary of each technique. Each class is a fantastic mix of creativity and technical skill, which keep our dancers engaged and moving. As your child advances we will continue to introduce challenging technical ideas while allowing them the freedom to develop themselves as artists. We look forward to creating a performance group to share with our local schools, community, and to give everyone a moment to shine.
